Yeah, so that happened. See, recently there has been a strange explosion of reviews from people who have not bought (much less read) this book calling it child pornography based on the cover and title. Amazon being…well…Amazon…sent me the following email earlier today:
We’re contacting you regarding the cover image of the following book(s), which are in violation of our content guidelines:
No, Daddy! I’m Not Mommy! by Nichols, Alexa (AUTHOR) (ID:7620473)
As a result, we will not be offering this book for sale. We ask that you replace your cover image with an image that is compliant with our content guidelines.
You can find our content guidelines on the KDP website: https://kdp.amazon.com/help?topicId=A2TOZW0SV7IR1U
Once you’ve updated your cover image, please resubmit your book for publishing. Upon resubmission, we will review it and provide you with a status update within 24 hours.
We appreciate your understanding.
By the way, THIS is the cover image in question:
Here is my response in its entirety: “The cover image is a face. That’s it. How is that in violation of your content guidelines?”
So I’m waiting for a response. This is insane. I could easily rant about this, but I won’t. There’s no point. That book has been for sale for a year now, and within the past month a handful of non-verified buyers (with almost no other activity or reviews on their accounts) have started calling it child porn. And then bam – Amazon has issues with it…
Goodnight, all. Tomorrow I was looking forward to slamming out some serious writing time, but it looks like I’ll be redesigning the cover instead…fuck it.
I still love you all.
And I’m still not gonna quit.
Apparently, I must be doing something right! 😀
